A Word from the Presidents
Hej Alla,
This has been busy and good week !! It started off with the sold out, Pay it Forward, event in Santa Monica. Everyone engaged in networking, panel discussions, advice sessions and the “giving wall” was one of the most appreciated features. Glad to see so many of our members attending.
We also participated during one our member’s, ONECLOUD Entertainment’s, film screening #SCANDICFILMS, where four Scandinavian short films were showcased. The films are going to be submitted to the Academy of Motion Pictures for award consideration and we wish these fantastic films the best of luck !!
The Eliason Merit Award is coming closer, please remember to save the date, November 22nd, for the party of the year !! We are very excited to be able to announce the winner shortly, stay tuned.

#SCANDICFILMS Stories From Scandinavia
Jonas and Sy Smensgard from ONECLOUD Entertainment
Last Wednesday our members, ONECLOUD Entertainment, hosted a film screening for four Scandinavian short films at the CGV Cinemas. The films represented were: “Love at 3.56” by Dawid Ullgren, “Naked” by Daniel Hagberg, “The Wall” by Lars Klevberg and “Reset” by Marcus Kryler and Fredrik Åkerström.
“#SCANDICFILMS is our way of sharing extremely deserving new films with an audience eager for compelling international cinema. All four of our films in this showcase have something important to say, and we’re fortunate to have a hand in sharing these artistic statements,” says Sy Smensgard, Festival Director and Lead Acquisitions.
The four films included in #SCANDICFILMS will be ONECLOUD Entertainment’s submission to the Academy of Motion Pictures for award consideration.
Marissa Guerrero Joven, one of SACC-LA’s board members, was the MC and moderator during the screening and the following Q&A session. Challenges when making short films, working with child actors, common themes or emotions that binds Scandinavian films together were a few of the topics being discussed during the Q&A.

Successful Pay it Forward For Business event
We are so grateful to have been part of another successful Pay it Forward event at the Satelite space in Santa Monica together with Your Office Agent. Every time the event grows bigger and the Incubate and Accelerate edition that took place last Monday was a sold out event with over 600 guests attending. People came to network, mingle, listen to the panel discussions, receive help from the experts and enjoy the free gifts and refreshments.
There was one panel of experts helping companies incubate by answering every question from legal to marketing and everything in-between, and another panel of some of the best funding sources in LA was that giving advice on how to grow your business.
The Pay it Forward initiative is all about bringing the biggest businesses, mentors and angel investors in Santa Monica together to give free advice and help on how to grow a successful business. And by looking at the growing number of participants it seems to be a winning concept.
