Major investments are made by ship owners and ports to make the maritime industry more sustainable and more profitable.  The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will invest more than $8 bill in the  next ten years in upgrades, infrastructure, and sustainability projects.  And, this is just the beginning.  We are talking about a major shift in the industry and it’s happening now!
Today was the last day of the CESMI maritime conference that puts the attendees right in the middle of these existing developments.
During the three day conference over 20 speakers and keynotes such as Mario Cordero and Benjamin De Alba discussed topics that ranged from ocean power and ship design to cargo handling in ports: “Ocean to Shore.”
CESMI stands for “Creating an Environmentally Sustainable Maritime Industry” and the conference is creating a forum in Los Angeles where global maritime industry leaders, researchers, and Government Officials can meet, share ideas, and develop business and research opportunities, with the aim of creating a highly environmentally sustainable and profitable maritime industry.
