Main Sponsor at the Eliason Merit Award
Kanon Organic Vodka
The story of Kanon Organic Vodka is a long one: Stretching all the way back to its inception in 1580, the Swedish vodka label has a rich heritage. Originally, the company was founded by the Swedish King Karl IV to produce cannons for the Swedish war machine – and to keep the workers close, the owners built a distillery on the premises.
The company quickly grew to become the country’s leading manufacturer of both cannons – and vodka – but in 1792 the distillery was shut down after a governmental ban was introduced on private production of spirits in the country. It was the end of the iconic vodka brand. Or at least that’s what people thought for over 200 years.. But Kanon came back, and in 2006 the Gripsholm distillery was once again brought into service, producing the same organic vodka, with the same locally produced, top quality natural ingredients it had done centuries ago.
In 2013, the brand enters its next chapter, where world-renowned Swedish DJ, record producer and label owner Steve Angello has become a partner of the brand, along with his extensive array of artists at Size Records. Kanon Organic Vodka of today is built upon icons – icons that have kept a legacy of a brand alive for more than 400 years. Icons that have taken a new music genre from the suburbs of Stockholm to arenas in every corner of the world. It’s built on the foundation that everything was impossible until someone did it. With its historic roots, Kanon Organic Vodka brings a unique story to the table – a story that will evolve for many years to come.
