A Word from the President

Hej Alla,

Finally Friday and I hope you have had as nice and productive week as we did.

We had our first board meeting of 2014 this week and it was full of exciting plans for this upcoming year.  I am very grateful for SACC-LA’s diligent and talented board members and our fantastic team of Marketing Managers, who make all of this happen.

Last year’s Scandinavian pre-Oscar party was a huge hit so I am happy to announce that we are planning another one for you, our members and all the Scandinavian nominees, this year again.  Details will be released very soon via our newsletter and to receive up-to-date info about the event, please like our facebook page and follow us on twitter.

Happy Friday !!

Join SACC-LA for LA Big 5K
March 8th

Inspired by the campaign Spring140131 and the Swedish National Day of Running February 1st the SACC-LA crew has decided to participate in the LA Big 5K, which is the official warm up race for the ASICS LA Marathon. You are all very welcome to join our 3.1 mile journey through the rolling hills of scenic Elysian Park.

The plan is simple; we all meet up before the race and do a warm up session with the professional “Friskis&Svettis” trainer Carina Guter, directly imported from Stockholm, Sweden.  After the race we celebrate our achievement with a small potluck picnic close to Dodger Stadium.

Fashion Weeks in Stockholm

The past few weeks in Stockholm have been filled with fashion.  Both Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Stockholm Fashion Week have been held in the capital of Sweden, with shows from some of our most successful designers and brands.  The events are put together by the Swedish Fashion Council four times each year, and also showcases new designer talent in their own fashion show through a project called “Rookies”.  The shows held in late January and early February focuses on the autumn/winter collections of 2014/2015.

Most of the shows were held at beautiful Berns in Stockholm or at Bukowskis on Norrmalmstorg and all of the major Swedish designers walked the runway, including Dagmar, Back, Hunkydory, J. Lindeberg and the ultra talented dress designer Ida Sjöstedt.  The fashion weeks are also filled with surrounding parties and other events, including mingle events, discussion forums, showrooms and tons of fun.

A Success Story
Jessica Mansourati
Our former Marketing Manager Jessica Mansourati has decided to stay in Los Angeles to do a traineeship at the successful retail chain Mood Fabrics, known from big TV-shows like “Project Runway” and “Under the Gunn”.  Jessica will be working with the daily retail operations of Mood Fabrics in Los Angeles and plan everything from designer classes to workshops and other events for the company.  She will also handle the marketing and communications of Mood Fabrics in Los Angeles.  Jessica wanted to send her greetings to all SACC-LA members:

I would like to send my thanks to everyone who have been working with me during my time at SACC-LA and everyone who have attended our events and taken part of our activities in any way. The past six months have been some of the best of my life! I met so many inspiring people and I learned a great deal about working in an international setting.

SACC-LA is all about the members and the people within its network, and I am happy we have so many amazing members. I hope that the organization will continue to grow bigger and host the best events and activities in Los Angeles!
I am truly grateful for the opportunity I have been given and I am looking forward to take on even more new challenges during the next chapter of my LA-adventure!

SACC-LA has a new Marketing Manager
Event coordinator

Jessica Guter

Growing up in both Sweden and England, Jessica has always appreciated and valued the experiences gained by living and participating in different cultures.  Since then, she has continued to develop an eagerness to visit different places, especially when provided with the opportunity to grow into the specific culture.  This interest is what brought her to Singapore for exchange studies and is also what now has brought her to LA and the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce.  She is excited to get an insight into American business culture and looks forward to feeling at home here in Los Angeles.

During her three years at Stockholm School of Economics, studying business and economics, Jessica has worked within the banking, HR and education industries, all of which she considers as very valuable work experiences.  She has worked with project management, and enjoys the responsibility and the creativeness that it implies.  Committed to events in the student association at SSE, she is willing to work hard and deliver top quality events for SACC-LA’s members and non-members.

With a huge interest in meeting new people and social activities, Jessica looks forward to developing the social platform that SACC-LA provides and, together with the rest of the team, develop the organization as a whole, leaving a positive footprint behind for future Marketing Managers.  Aiming at continuing her studies with a MSc in International Business, Jessica can’t think of a better way to gain experience within the area than by an internship at SACC-LA for six months.

You can reach her at mkt.saccla@gmail.com or 310-622-3616
