The Special Olympics & SACC-LA

SACC-LA are happy to announce that we are collaborating with Team Sweden for the upcoming Special Olympics World Games 2015 this summer. It will be held in Los Angeles and will be the biggest sporting event of the year in the entire U.S.! The Special Olympics are held every two years, the previous one being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Many young people with disabilities can have difficulties in creating a meaningful leisure which can lead to isolation and other social problems. The foundation of the Special Olympics is to create a forum to interact and have a chance to compete and challenge themselves. Through health and joy, boundaries can be surpassed. This has today grown so much that over four million athletes in over 170 countries are involved in the Special Olympics.  Please view the video below of the President of The United States, Mr. Barack Obama, explaining why this event is so important. He also shows his support to Team USA, may the best team win!
The dates for this year’s Special Olympics are set to July 25th – August 2nd and will involve over 7,000 participants. Sweden will have representatives in 8 of the 25 different sporting events so we want to do our best in supporting them. We will do this by building up for the event this spring and summer, hosting a Kick-off Party and showing other various support for the event. We look forward to start working with this and can’t wait until the event! Gooooo Sweden!
