A Word from the President

Hej Alla,

Finally Friday and we hope you’ll enjoy some great Scandinavian movies this weekend at the Scandinavian Film Festival, including celebrating SWEA’s film grant recipient, Anders Hellström, that will receive his prize Saturday evening.

Sweden had their most prestigious film award show, Guldbaggen, this past Monday, established 1964 and still organized by the Swedish Film Institute. You can read all about “Guldbaggen” and the fantastic winners further down in this newsletter.

Have you heard of a campaign called “Spring 140131”?  The secret sender Spring140131 has posted some high profiled Swedish artists running in different settings. On their website they attached a countdown to the end of January. We are just as curious as you to find out what this is all about, in the meantime, please view the videos of Naomi Rapace and Joel Kinnaman.

Last but most importantly, I want to express a big THANK YOU to our previous and ultra-talented Marketing Managers; Paula, Jessica, Adam and Marie, as they this week handed over their duties to our brand new Marketing Managers; Erik, Max, Matilda and Jessica. We extend a warm and equally big WELCOME to our new rockstar team.

Happy Friday !!

Gudrun Giddings
President of SACC-LA

Thank You Marketing Managers

Time flies and our stellar Marketing Manager team for the past six-months are now about to leave us for new adventures.  Together they have not only contributed with their knowledge and commitment making the Chamber flourish more than ever, they have also enriched the daily work at the office with their enthusiasm and inspiring personalities.  Thanks to their hard work, the 2013 Eliason Merit Award hit record numbers in terms of attendance, profitability and media presence.

Besides producing top quality events, a successful delegation for the Swedish trade organization TEKO was planned and executed. A new modern website was launched this fall and the Chamber’s media presence has increased enormously in both traditional and social media.  We are very grateful for their amazing work at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles and it is with great excitement we will follow their future careers.

Adam and Jessica will be staying in city of angels, and Marie and Paula are up for new adventures overseas.  We wish them all the best of luck!

A Success Story
Adam Elvelin Söderlund

It didn’t take long until our member company Apica System noticed our former Marketing Manager Adam Söderlund Elvelin’s unique character and skills.  When Adam’s internship at SACC-LA ended he was offered to work at Apica System.  Adam gladly accepted the offer and will now stay here in the City of Angels working with finance and accounting for another six months!  In regard to this success story, Adam wanted to send his greeting to SACC-LA and all its members…

My time with SACC-LA has come to an end, and I really want to take this chance to thank everyone that has been a part of these six intense, and extremely fun months.

I feel truly privileged to have been a part of such a great organization, with goal-oriented and outgoing colleagues.  Also – a big thanks to all our members, I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

One member company I will be seeing a lot more of is Apica, for which I started working a couple of weeks ago and will continue to do so until it’s time to fly back to Sweden at the end of June.  Apica is a tech company that provides application- and website monitoring, and I’ll work with Finance & Accounting

I am really happy to have been given this opportunity, and just staying in L.A for another six months is awesome!

All the best, and I hope to see you at a SACC-LA event soon!

Adam Söderlund Elvelin
